Nora Vitz Harrison was at the forefront of a business revolution when she founded Echo Publications (Three60’s predecessor) as a virtual corporation in 1987. Her writers, designers, photographers and digital experts work from wherever it makes sense; technology connects them.

In 1988 Echo Publications won the contract to provide customer sales publications for AT&T’s business division in the western United States. By 1994 the contract had expanded nationwide. The work involved creating 10 editions customized by market strata and geographic region, and included a Japanese-language edition. Nora and her team handled the complex project — from research and writing to production and distribution — six times a year for 11 years. In 1998 American Marketing Systems of Chicago hired the company to create a subscription newsletter for the real-estate industry. Nora designed the publication and quickly grew it to a subscriber base of 40,000.

Clients began asking for projects beyond publishing. In 2001 Nora oversaw the development of an identity program for the Ford Family Foundation including a new logo, style guide and graphics standards. She and her team continue to produce the Foundation’s biannual publication. In 2003, her book Dear Kilroy was published by Capital Books; the audio edition was released in 2006. In 2005, she co-authored Keys to Success, a college orientation text. It is in its fifth printing. Nora began offering communications workshops and one-on-one coaching. Since 2003 Nora has coached nearly 100 executives from ARAMARK, Microsoft, SeamlessWeb and others.

Her business grew until its name did not fit anymore. That’s why the company is now called Three60 Communications.

Nora is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Redlands in communications. She earned a master’s degree in English from the University of Sydney while studying in Australia on a Rotary graduate fellowship. Nora lives in Oregon with her husband, Jon, a real rocket scientist, and her Labrador retriever, Delancey.

NORA TRIVIA
Sports highlight: Nora played point guard (third string) on a men’s intramural basketball team in grad school.
I-can’t-believe-they-pay-me-for-this” moment: Working as a reporter at the Summer Olympic Games in Barcelona.
For life balance: She volunteers with Guide Dogs for the Blind. She’s trained five puppies for the program. No wonder this site has so many photos of dogs.
